چکیده
Equipping building envelopes with an additional layer is effective measure for improving the overall thermal and daylighting performance reducing energy consumption of buildings. This study investigated user acceptance energy-saving retrofitting measures in office buildings, reporting on view perception emotional response towards ETFE double-skin façades (DSF). Virtual Reality (VR) physics-based imaging techniques were used to evaluate experience a window space equipped pneumatic cushion as second skin. Three DSF scenarios different cushions, including clear, fritted switchable sample, evaluated compared original single-skin façade double-glazed windows. The physical luminous conditions replicated virtual environment validated physically-based technique presented group volunteers (N = 22) using reality headset. While immersed environment, participants responded questionnaire enquiring into their states. results revealed preference clarity clear (Mdn 5) less satisfaction 4) foil cushions 1.75), yet double glazing was preferred all measured parameters 6). Statistical significance found comparison terms spatial pleasure control. highest ratings given across response. lowest ranking questions sample cushion. concluded that major aspect façades. Overall, this provides better understanding visual implications viewing through contributes forming criteria design next-generation envelopes.

Virtual environments (VEs), offering a new human-computer interaction paradigm, have attracted much attention, in clinical psychology, especially in the treatment of phobias. However, a possible new application of VR in psychology is as assessment tool: VEs can be considered as an highly sophisticated form of adaptive testing. This chapter describes the context of current psychological assessme...
